About this event
Join us for a special Queer Print Club session exploring the colourful, experimental world of risograph printing. From activist posters and queer zines to bold graphic prints, we’ll explore how print can be a powerful tool for self-expression, storytelling and creative activism.
Risograph Workshop | Queer Print Club
Get hands-on with the Riso process, experimenting with colour, layering, collage and design to turn your ideas into printed creations to take home.
Whether you’ve got something to say, a story to share or simply fancy trying something new, come along and get printing! No experience necessary – just bring yourself, your ideas and a willingness to experiment.
Created with Dumfries & Galloway’s LGBTQ+ community in mind, Queer Print Club is a welcoming space to meet others, share ideas and celebrate queer creativity. Whether you’re queer, questioning or an ally, you’re welcome.
What is Risograph Printing?
Risograph (or ‘Riso’) is a wonderfully unpredictable printing process somewhere between screen printing and photocopying. Using vibrant soy-based inks, colours are printed in layers to create bold, textured and brilliantly imperfect results.
Think bright colours, unexpected overlaps and happy accidents! Riso is perfect for making posters, zines, comics and art prints, and is loved by artists, independent publishers and activists for its distinctive DIY aesthetic.
It’s a little bit messy, a little bit magical, and a whole lot of fun.
