**The creative spaces cohort are taking over Midsteeple Quarter’s (MSQ) front room, the standard, at 139 High Street. Join us for four days of workshops, games, music, performance, and creative experiments.** Spacer Craig will lead a game making taster session open to any and all regardless of skill level or equipment. This session will encourage people to explore queer narratives and lived stories through a potentially new format. There will be laptops provided that can be used between participants for the session. Those joining us are welcome to bring their own laptops too, and all software used in the session is free to use. **Accessibility Information** The Standard is a fully accessible building with street level entrances and disabled toilets.
**JUPITER+NATION DUMFRIES** Growing Pains is a site-specific installation by artist Lindsey Mendick set in an abandoned estate agent's office. Referencing her teenage years, Mendick has transformed the space into a haunting, immersive experience that explores the uncertainty, awkwardness, and societal expectations surrounding adolescence. Assembled on a spiralling desk that references the often cruel loop of teenagehood, Growing Pains features Alice-in-Wonderland-style ceramic dolls' houses that burst open, with teenage figures erupting from within. The work captures the surreal pressures that emerge at the threshold of adulthood, underlining the tension between a yearning for parental acceptance and the simultaneous urge to reject it. Jupiter+Nation is an ambitious off-site programme by Jupiter Artland that brings world class art to high streets across Scotland. Content warning: The supporting documentary film contains strong language, references to suicide, bullying and negative body image that some viewers might find difficult. Young people must be accompanied.
