**This November, The Stove Cafe welcomes artist Andrew Nichol to share a collection of paintings created over the past 12 months during a pro-longed hospital stay.** **Exhibition \| Flow State by Andrew Nichol** Focusing on experimentation, mark-making and the expressive quality of the paint, Andrew has created a huge body of work over the course of a year, working on several paintings each evening. His quick and immediate way of creating has inspired us to reflect on the process of creativity and ‘getting into the flow’. The best way to make art is to start! Join Andrew and some of the Stove team on Tuesday 3rd November for an open creative café session where, as part of the exhibition programme, Andrew will be sharing some of his techniques and we’ll be exploring a playful and immediate way of creating together. A free weekly timed event for fun.

This exhibition features work in a variety of printmaking techniques including screenprint, etching, collagraph, relief print and cyanotype created by members of Southwest Scotland Printmakers. This volunteer-led printmaking cooperative fosters a vibrant community of artists, promotes printmaking as an art form, and helps provide access to quality printmaking facilities and resources, including the print studio at Gracefield. With 30 members taking part for this year’s winter show, there’s a wealth of talent in this selling exhibition. Offering the chance to buy framed work off the wall, unframed editions from browsers, and printed multiples such as Christmas cards, bookmarks and textiles.

**JUPITER+NATION DUMFRIES** Growing Pains is a site-specific installation by artist Lindsey Mendick set in an abandoned estate agent's office. Referencing her teenage years, Mendick has transformed the space into a haunting, immersive experience that explores the uncertainty, awkwardness, and societal expectations surrounding adolescence. Assembled on a spiralling desk that references the often cruel loop of teenagehood, Growing Pains features Alice-in-Wonderland-style ceramic dolls' houses that burst open, with teenage figures erupting from within. The work captures the surreal pressures that emerge at the threshold of adulthood, underlining the tension between a yearning for parental acceptance and the simultaneous urge to reject it. Jupiter+Nation is an ambitious off-site programme by Jupiter Artland that brings world class art to high streets across Scotland. Content warning: The supporting documentary film contains strong language, references to suicide, bullying and negative body image that some viewers might find difficult. Young people must be accompanied.

Upland Made returns to Easterbrook Hall, The Crichton, Dumfries, for a weekend celebrating art, craft and making from across Dumfries & Galloway. Taking place on **Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November**, the fair brings together artists and makers working across a wide range of disciplines, from ceramics, jewellery and textiles to painting, printmaking, woodwork and more. Visitors can browse and buy directly from artists and makers, discover original work and unique gifts, while meeting the people behind what they make. **Creative Workshops** This year, Upland Made will also feature a programme of **creative workshops**, giving visitors the chance to get hands-on and try something new. Artist **Martin Clarkson** will lead a relaxed drawing workshop in The Crichton Gardens, encouraging participants to slow down, look closely and explore the shapes, textures and stories of trees through charcoal and sketching. Textile artist **Louisa Ruthven** will lead a **Stitched Landscapes Workshop**, where participants will create a collaged and embroidered landscape using recycled cloth and Louisa’s hand-dyed and printed fabrics. The workshop will also introduce the Japanese technique of *momigami* and is suitable for all abilities, with no previous experience needed. There will also be workshops led by emerging artists, with further details to be announced. **Workshop places are limited. CHARITY BINGO NIGHT Get ready for a fantastic night of bingo, games, prizes and lots of laughs! The bingo night will be hosted by Andrew Twigg, aka Nurse Nellie Knickerlastic, who will be calling the numbers as we raise funds for the Guild of Players Youth member Hari, who is fundraising for a trip to Cambodia next year to do youth work. Tickets are FREE, but numbers are limited and the event will be ticketed. There will be 6 games of bingo plus a flyer, (£20 for 6 games, £3 for a flyer), along with other games and a raffle with some fantastic prizes.
