About

Ewart Library offers a wide range of library, heritage and council services. A reading room and computer room are available as well as the usual lending services.

It is Dumfries's main library and opened in 1904.

Services

Alongside lending and reference collections for adults and children, the Ewart houses local and family history resources that draw researchers from well beyond the region, and staff there are well used to helping people trace Dumfries and Galloway ancestors. There are public computers and study space, regular children’s activities, and a DG Customer Services point for council enquiries.
